Agree or Disagree

Agree or disagree with death penalty

I completely disagree with the idea of a death penalty. My reasons come from a political point of view and a personal experience. In the year 2009 my sister was been murdered. I would not want the murderer to be sentenced to the death penalty because that is not a true punishment. A criminal who commits a crime must analyze why they are being punished. In order for a person to truly know the damage that they have done they have to sit and think about what could have been done in order to prevent the consequences they are facing for example imprisonment. Killing a criminal would not allow them to learn what they did was wrong rather than it would enable them to be relieved from suffered through death. Another reason why I disagree with the death penalty is because as human beings we have no right to take another persons life. Although the criminal may have made the same offense, if we do the same by taking their life what would differ us from them? We then would fall into the same category as a murderer for taking a life that was not ours from the beginning. Society will call the death penalty a proper punishment but that is only because it is them who are doing it. In their eyes all actions that are done by them are in justice even if it resembles the same crime that an outlaw has committed. They become blind to the fact that enabling the death penalty wouldn’t just “punish” the criminal but it would dehumanize those who are executing the accused. It is inhumane to kill another person but not inhumane to make the accused endure severe punishment. Prison is the place for those who commit murder. In conclusion I disagree with the death penalty because I believe that it would not be proper justice.
